Expand Your Territory with a New Medium
Growing as students is not the easiest endeavor that we try to do in life. As an artist and educator, I help myself and my students to find our inner creative genius. I would like to talk about some of the points that I find are congruent in this quest for expansion.

Airbrush Painting by Timothy John-Luke Smith
Repetition is what it Takes to Refine
“One must keep right on drawing; draw with your eyes when you can not hold a pencil. As long as you do not have a balance between your seeing of things and your execution, you will do nothing that is really good.”
~Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres
The best teacher is going to be at the easel, drawing board, or sketch pad over and over. Remember that being “done” is always better than “perfect”. Never let your vision of perfection cloud your true objective. Perfection has nothing to do with our individual growth. Inspiration happens when we are in the process of getting better.
Don’t Limit Yourself to One Medium
When you are starting out, make sure that you explore several different mediums. If you are working in airbrush, try pencil drawing or try watercolor. You will never know what your true medium is if you don’t explore. This is the time to play around with all kinds of art supplies. Remember this is not the 1980s. Youtube has tutorials for everything.
Is There Even Better Than Youtube out there?
Yes, there is. If you find an artist and teacher that is a master in several different mediums, they would be able to give you a well-rounded art school experience online. I have been at the best art schools in the USA and studied with many prominent artists in several different mediums. Never limit yourself and which direction you should take in your creative journey.
